Do you demonstrate aggression against yourself?


Today is October 27 and the Navigate the Chaos question to consider is “How often are you demonstrating aggression against yourself?”

People who navigate the chaos have a high level of self-awareness and understand when they are doing harm to themselves.

They have the courage to look at themselves and accept what they see. By treating themselves with honesty they are able to better answer questions, solve problems, and address issues that arise.

In When Things Fall Apart: Heartfelt Advice for Hard Times, author Pema Chödrön writes “We think that the point is to pass the test or overcome the problem, but the truth is that things don't really get solved. They come together and they fall apart. Then they come together again and fall apart again. It's just like that. The healing comes from letting there be room for all of this to happen: room for grief, for relief, for misery, for joy. “

To way to allow this room to exist is to honest and gentle with ourselves.

As Chödrön noted “The most fundamental aggression to ourselves, the most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves, is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently.”
